Campus EMS

Campus Emergency Medical Services (Campus EMS) strives to provide a variety of high-quality basic life support services to the campus of ECU. Serving all populations within the East Carolina community, Campus EMS shall provide first responder BLS emergency response to on-campus emergencies, standby for on-campus events, and provide emergency education to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community. In addition, Campus EMS shall collaborate with all supporting first response agencies to keep our campus safe and promote the health and well-being of the entire campus.

What do we do?

Campus EMS strives to provide a variety of high-quality basic life support services to the campus of ECU including:

  • Providing on-campus 911 response to support Greenville Fire & Rescue and Pitt County EMS (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 7:00pm-2:00am when fall/spring classes are in session)
  • Medical standby at various on-campus events, including club sports competitions
  • Campus emergency education to faculty and students
  • Student Health Services clinical support

Eligibility and requirements to join:

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate student; freshman students STRONGLY preferred
  • Hold a valid EMT-B certification
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have evening and weekend availability
